Distell International engaged Muir Construction in early 2019 on a negotiated contract to undertake their £17.5M East Kilbride Warehousing and Blending Project and work on site commenced in May of that year. Despite a number of challenges with ground conditions, adverse weather and programme interruption during Covid-19 lockdowns and associated ongoing health & safety restrictions, the completed facility was successfully handed over within the original 70 week programme duration in December 2020, on budget and with zero accidents. Much credit goes to the Muir site team of Barry Porteous, Nicholas Fraser, Mark Hastings and Neil Watts for their collaborative and flexible approach throughout the design and construction process and in particular their management of Distell’s direct works packages and warehouse fit out contractors. I would have no hesitation in recommending Muir Construction and this particular management team for similar projects in future.
